Report On Igaming Conference Held Today
The Igaming conference this morning kicked off with an opening speech from Malta’s Finance Minister Tonio Fenech.
Mr Fenech discussed various points relating to the Malta gaming industry. The main points that stood out were on government’s long term strategy for maximising the return on investment within the igaming sector and on the current review process on existing legislations to reflect modern business models.
Other points addressed by Mr Fenech included the challenges that the industry faces in correctly regulating systems and on retaining full compliancy with EU law.
The acting Chief Executive Officer Michael Gonzi also made his comments available. His concerns revolved around the scarce competent human resources available, despite the lucrative returns offered by the industry. Michael Gonzi also disclosed an overview of the existing LGA structure which is maintained by the 43 persons employed by the LGA.
Michael Gonzi reassured operators not to expect any radical changes made to the current legislation. It was also announced that the LGA will be unveiling a new electronic control system in the near future.
